A Brief History of the Chicken
Chip Roberts and Bobby Perry were two, local Charleston guys, fresh out of college from the University of South Carolina. They wanted to dodge the real world, so with the help of their families, they started The Kickin' Chicken. They opened their first, very humble location on Morrison Drive in the upper peninsula of Downtown Charleston. Their very first order was a delivery. After a few years in "the neck" they moved south and found a spot right in the middle of King Street.Since the beginning the focus was always on the quality of food in a fun, friendly atmosphere. Chips jokes, "Somehow we managed over the first few years, even though we really weren't sure what we were doing!" Then, along came David Miller, who partnered up shortly after Chip & Bobby opened their second location on James Island. Finally, with the much needed guidance and knowledge that David brought, they were on the right track.
We want to thank all the great people who work with us, the employees who have since left the Kickin' Chicken family and of course - our customers, because face it, without them, none of this would have been possible. We continue to do our best to make sure every experience is an excellent one. As different as three people can be, we all have the same goal, to take care of our customers, our employees, and to positively impact our community.
Thanks for your support.
We hope to see you back soon.

The best thing we serve isn't on the menu; it's the people in the community! Each owner has a passion for these three charities: The Lowcountry Autism Consortium, Camp Happy Days and the Charleston & Summerville Miracle Leagues.
However, we love learning about new organizations and are always happy to help out our neighbors. For donation requests, please download our Donation Request Form.
In recent news, The Kickin' Chicken owners awarded 3 of its employees with $2,000 each toward their college education.
